Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was an Indian poet and intellectual who lived during the 19th century. During his time, India was undergoing significant social and cultural changes as a result of British colonial rule.
One of the most significant social changes during Derozio's time was the emergence of a new, western-educated Indian middle class. This group of Indians was largely English-speaking and often looked to the West for inspiration and guidance. This new middle class also played an important role in the Indian independence movement, which sought to end British colonial rule................
